Sunday
In her normal digent style, Sarah woke early and went exploring for the niceties that are the normal Mothers' Day tradition. Cheap french wine instead of champagne, un undrinkable orange juice drink, a heart shaped pink cake (delicious) and a pink ribbon from the local florist to wrap around 4 Lion King tickets for later that night.
Next stop was Mustafa Shopping Plaze, but the visit was short. You could buy anything from hankies to TVs at this place, but it wasn't that cheap and everyting seemed a couple of years old. It was back to Orchard Road by mutual agreement. Steve had a ten minute (guaranteed) S$10 haircut that was pretty much automated, from the S$10 note acceptor for the metcard like token) right though to the sweeping and cleaning procedure at the end. Each customer could take home the comb used as part of the deal, but Steve's hit the bin. Total time was 10 minutes and 14 seconds.
It was then back to the hotel for a swim and to get ready for the Lion King at Marina Bay. The complex has to be seen to be believed - 3 towers connected by a curved ship structure across the roof, complete with rooftop swimming pool and all the luxury stuff like an ice skating rink, indoor gondolas and the brands you expect in Singapore.
We joined Felicity and John (Sarah's flatmates who had splurged on the package deal and stayed) and dined in the food court. Yummy asian cuisine at budget prices. It was then up to look at Flick & Noj's room where Sarah was surprised with an early 21st present (A Canon SLR with all the add-ons)
Michele loved the show, starting with the champagne in the .foyer beforehand. The costumes and choreography were quirky, funny. impeccably done and beautifully artistic. It was pretty true to the movie, znd characters appeared from the aisles, the rooftop and the wings. A night not to be forgotten...
