Saturday 21st - Phi Phi day 2

Michele and Steve headed off for an early walk and discovered some REAL COFFEE at a little bakery not far from the hotel. They devoured a couple of cappuccinos and some iced and some jam doughnuts. The iced ones were tiny and only 3 baht (about 9 cents) each. We joined the rest of the Werners for a little shopping - it turned out there were quite a few market type stalls around and then then lunched at a Scandinavian (?!?) place that had great Thai food (work that one out)!

We had discovered the back beach (far fewer long boats) on the morning walk and headed down with the kids that afternoon. This of course took us past a few dozen more stalls, so the 100 meters took about an hour. We found a table at the Reggae bar (more Bob Marley) and ordered a round of drinks in the shade.

The kids downed theirs quickly and hired a couple of Kayaks for an hour. After issuing stuct instrictions (deliberate mis-spelling) not to go out of sight, Michele and Steve watched nervously as the two very naughty Kayaks disappeared round the point. They were just dots by this stage - seemingly in wild shark infested waters, but in reality in calm and safe water. More drinks please waiter...

The dots came back into view about 10 minutes later and slowly (I mean SLOWLY) headed back into shore. Flick ans Nohj appeared about 10 minutes before the intrepid seamen returned and joined the really big kids for one more round.

We wandered back to the hotel and James watched TV, Michele & Sarah had a swim, whilst Steve (who was obsessive about Internet access) went in search of a  WiFi card. He found someone selling one about a kilometre away only to see one for sale next door on the way back

Flick was feeling a bit under the weather and being looked after by super-nurse John, so it was just the Werners for Tea. We found a place just round the corner with all the prerequisites (cocktails, a good  Thai menu, the right soy sauce and cheap cold beer). The waitress was very friendly and loved the fact that Sarah was almost a 'local'. Steve tried their crumbed fish and chips (6/10). They didn't quite compare to the ones in Hoi An, but were pretty good just the same. Michele and Sarah both had the best looking Vegie burgers you could imagine. The collective weight gain for the Werners since they left Melbourne is downright scary...
